A court session in Imo State, Nigeria was disrupted by a tragic event as the Chairman of Ejemekwuru Customary Court, Nnaemeka Ugboma, was assassinated while he was on the bench. On Thursday, two armed men on motorcycles entered the court, pulled Ugboma out and shot him to death before escaping. The scene of the crime caused widespread fear and chaos among those present, including lawyers, court employees, and litigants.
The source of the incident reported that the motive behind Ugboma's murder is still unknown. The news has spread shock and fear among the people of the Ejemekwuru community. Ugboma, a 1991 law graduate, was highly respected in the area. The Nigerian Bar Association is expected to provide more information and updates on their plans regarding the tragic event.
Ugochukwu Allinor, the Owerri Branch Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, confirmed the killing and stated that the organization will make a statement to the public about their actions and plans in response to the tragedy. The violent act has once again emphasized the need for better measures to protect those in the judicial system.
