  2. Servanthood skills for leadership

    by ebube Emmanuel

Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. (1 Peter 5:3-4)

Our greatness as God’s children is in serving others around us; God is giving you more so as to serve better. Oftentimes many think greatness is being greater than people, but this is not the way for the children of God. Leadership is  erroneously perceived when it’s about superiority and lording over people.

A matured presbytery in the church arena is not a function of how long we’ve been around in church and the position we occupy in an organization, it is to be a reflection of the leadership immersed in the biblical definition. God has called every of His children to be a leader and leadership in Him is about serving. For too long the people in leadership positions continue to learn, read and pump up their muscles on leadership skills rather than servanthood skills, this is because our route to greatness is servanthood, not leadership. The more people we serve, the
    more we become great.

It’s noteworthy to consider leadership as God’s ordained privilege to be a foundation for the furtherance of the gospel of Christ. It’s nothing close to politics, leadership is God’s design for the service of men. Oftentimes, His continued abundant grace towards us as leaders is often misunderstood and is hence misused. Many often forget that He is giving us more to do so that we can have more to offer in service to others- Oh, what a poor use of one of heaven’s greatest
gift. God came in the corporality of the flesh not to control or condemn the lost world, He served them. In His days in the flesh, there were no “unlovables.” At the cross He forgave, in heaven He intercedes for us! What a service! This is so powerful, to know that the Lord Jesus, though seated at the right hand of the Father, the place of absolute total authority, continues to serve by way of intercession for us. This is a great lesson for anyone who has gracefully been
called to serve in any capacity especially in the local church.

This is a dare for your child of God, join me in service to the Lord by giving service to His people. Determine no matter what happens, no matter how disrespected and hurt you are, your leadership will “always” be used as a platform to serve. The more you serve, the greater you are. I expect you to win.

Rhema word: You lead the moment you serve.
