Internal Control Officer

Job Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Description:


The aim of this role is to support the Team Lead of Internal Control in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Group by creating and enforcing business control policies and operational guidelines that reduce the likelihood of risks and their negative effects on business performance.


Responsibilities:


  • To ensure compliance with company-approved policies, operating procedures, laws, regulations, and code of good business practices, the Internal Control programs are implemented, and the degree of compliance is reported on.

  • To promote operational efficiency and transparency while ensuring compliance, assistance is provided in the implementation of internal control policies and procedures.

  • To prevent fraud, embezzlement, misappropriations, misuse, and wastage, Internal Control evaluation and risk assessments are conducted to identify loopholes and areas that require management intervention.

  • Audit tests and investigations, as designed by the Audit Team Lead, are conducted by the personnel.

  • The personnel prepare draft audit reports for review by the Team Leads.

  • To evaluate information security and associated risk exposures, the personnel assess the information security.


Requirements:


  • A Second Class Upper degree in Accounting or any finance-related program is required.

  • A Master's degree in any related field or an MBA is preferred.

  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in the internal audit department of a comparable organization is required.

  • Relevant professional certifications, such as the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA), or the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), are required.
